FIRST SNOW & Autumn Leaves
Snow lovers, rejoice!
The eternally exciting first snowfall of the year blessed Asahidake a few days ago. As always, Asahidake retains its bragging rights of having the very first snowfall in Japan every winter, due to its northern latitude and being the highest mountain in Hokkaido. It was a fair bit, and some has melted the last few days, but it still counts.
Intrepid visitors can now experience autumn and winter simultaneously by visiting Asahidake.
Lower down, autumn is just getting into gear, and the Furano Ropeway is open through October 18 to whisk leaf peepers through the colored trees to enjoy the view from the top. Autumn is lovely in Furano, but with so many renowned places to enjoy autumn colors in Japan, it doesn't draw too much attention. Doesn't mean it's not nice.
See you in Furano.
